Indigo Kids Nels Matavai Bay

7-1-09
This handsome little fellow arrived at our farm alongside his dam at a week old. He was slated to be a wether due to a previous reservation before coming here.
However, as I watched this guy grow up here, by 8 weeks old I just knew it would be a crime to wether this exceptional buckling!
So here he is, our Nellie insurance policy!
But, the last thing I needed here was another buckling, so he is going to be co-owned with Bonnie and Todd Martin at Rainbow Meadows Farm. We had a prior arrangement to co-own another one of our bucklings with them, and it just made sense for them to take Matavai too! I think he is going to do wonderful things for the herd that they are just building up!
His Sire, Fairlea Fletcher Christian, is a very nice buck indeed, and has many 1st place awards as well as a GCH Senior buck award! He also has some beautiful daughters on the ground that freshened with excellent udders! He is sired by the legendary Flat Rocks Gem who is known for his quality consistent mammaries. His dam is the ARMCH Fairlea Gretchen, who comes from a very strong dam line of multiple ARMCH's! Take a look at Fairlea Heidi, Gretchen (MB's Paternal granddam), and Fleur who won the three generation class at the AGS Nationals in 2005!

His Dam, Sugar Creek MT Nellie 2*D AR is our finest doe. She is the littermate sister to Sugar Creek Sallys Nate, who is the sire to ARMCH Sugar Creek Nates Patience who has many Best Udder and Best of Breed awards. Nellie is 9 this year, but you would never know that by looking at her mammary system. This udder is still as high and well attached as I imagine it was her first freshening. I mean it is attached everywhere, it doesnt move an inch! Her teats also fill up your hands, something that you dont see everyday in Nigerians!

And Matavai himself, what can I say, he is beautiful. He is a powerful buck that is very correct. He is wide everywhere, just take a look at the width between his hocks, his open escutheon, and his wide chest floor. He's got nice straight legs and a very level topline. He also inherited his dam's wattles.
Its very nice to know that should anything happen to his 9 year old dam, we have this fabulous buckling in the wings for us! In the meantime, we look forward to seeing the impact Matavai will have with our friends at Rainbow Meadows Farm!
